This is the start of a new blog series on men and women who have flaunted conventions. As a writer who walks along the fine line of eccentricity, I have a deep appreciation for individuals who refuse to be conventional. My hope is to not only report on the actions that made them famous, but to also bring insight into the challenges they faced along the way that shaped their decisions and their unflinching character.
